Reynard City Chronicles issue 1

A real strong opener with very strong artwork that is somewhere between a Saturday morning cartoon and anime. It introduces us to the characters one by one (mainly focusing on Vibes) and has a good set of action to keep interest. The story moves very quickly – sometimes TOO quickly and it’s hard to keep up at times. I did also wonder if it tried throwing too many characters at you at once, but otherwise this was a highly entertaining opening and wanted to keep me reading.
Reynard City Chronicles issue 2

The artwork here I feel is a slight downgrade from the last issue, but nothing too be concerned about. The story focuses on Sal (Wondervixen) and goes into her securities and weight issues. I’m a great fan of stories that tackle mental health and this did it very well – you can’t help but feel sorry for poor Sal!
The ending also has a dark twist that made me excited for the next issue! Sal I think is my favourite out of the foxes, she just has so many layers to her character that make me want to root for her.
Reynard City Chronicles issue 3

I have to be honest after a strong issue last time, this one was kinda disappointing. It follows on from the story, with Sal trying to fight the monster inside her. The story is good and I like how it focuses on Sal’s inner battles, but in my opinion the artwork doesn’t do the story justice and somewhat detracts from it. The art is seemingly based on Sonic the Hedgehog and that’s fine – but at times it looks a bit too blocky and the backgrounds are virtually nonexistent, making it hard to follow where you are.
It’s not awful by any means, but I feel that a more grittier artstyle was needed for this particular plot. That said, the story itself was interesting and that’s what kept me going.
Reynard City Chronicles issue 4

The artwork is an improvement over the last one, and nicely follows on from Sal’s story about her dealing with the consequences of her actions. This one has a more cartoony feel, introducing the Humiliator. My one gripe with it is that some transitions from one part to the next seemed to be a bit disjointed.
For example, there was a weird transition that confused me. When fighting Caramel Girl and Insect Girl, it looked like only AK Girl and Hyper Rob was there, but then Sal (Wondervixen) appeared in the next panel. That confused me a little. However, it introduced an interesting twist near the end that brings into question AK Girl’s powers.

This is a collection of short stories and a continuation of the main story. One of the stories is a flashback to AK Girl’s training, then we have a therapy session with Wondervixen (where we learn some dark secrets about her) and then finally a short story about a villain called Balloon Boy. I won’t spoil much about his character, but he does have a connection to one of the foxes.
It’s also good to see Mega Fox actually DO something. For such a dangerous villain, I do feel that Mega Fox hasn’t done much so far, so it’s nice to see him get into the thick of action. Artwork was pretty good for the most part. Some of the panels seemed to bleed into each other in the last story, but otherwise it was easy to follow.

A World In Chaos: Elie Renard Delisle-Lafortune
Warp King: Welcome to My World (Art by BlueIke)

If you like psychedelic style art, this one is for you! Here we are introduced to Warp King, which is sort of like the Mister Mxyzptlk (hope I got the spelling right!) of this series. This issue is seemingly a random collection of things happening, but I guess as Warp King loves the idea of chaos it makes total sense.
What did throw me was that there was one story where Insect Girl (previously a villain) went to seek therapy so that she wouldn’t be a villain anymore – but then she was back to being a villain in the next story. However there is a BRUTAL fight between Hyper Rob and Mega Fox which I won’t spoil – but the ending was like “Holy s@8!”
Reynard City Chronicles issue 7

After an emotional start, we are treated to a rollercoaster ride of an episode! Remember how I said how I thought the Insect Girl hero thing kinda came and went? It’s actually resolved here now!
Saying too much about it will be a huge spoiler, but let’s just say that there is a lot of emotion and fast paced action here – so much it might leave you out of breath in a good way. The ending was a little out of leftfield, but otherwise a very enjoyable issue and might be one of my favourites yet.
