Hello Reynardfans, it’s me Brunel back again from long break. It’s time for the Reynard city marathon. We are nearly close to end of the comic.

Let’s read Reynard city Chronicles: Aftermath

Before I start the story section trigger warning of this review the comic will contain bereavement like loss and grieving.

I know feeling of losing a love one and pets, it hurts and feels like you have a hole in your heart. You have friends and family to help you slowly get back up.

Story

The story starts with the AK Girl and Wonder Vixen at funeral their human forms after their encounter with Mega Fox and his minions showing us what happened to our three heroes in sad moments. Unfortunate event happened to one member.

I love how the story switches its tones from the last comic showing readers this is climax for two issues to come.

I like how the story introduces the more topics by show don’t tells by giving fans glimpses of it through last issues to connect them all together.

I like how the characters are balanced like old and new villains with the pacing of the story and theme. How Rob has rewritten the original story and merged them into the reboot.

The prices for comics are £8.00 and £5.00 shipping are pretty good, I like the printed and digital copies helps me to review them both.

Artwork

Let’s have a look at the new artist interpretation of the comic and the characters in the art style.

BlueIke art is saturated vibrant and comical outlines, I love how cell shading makes the comic stick out in peculiar details that catch the viewer’s eyes.

The cover artwork for issue 7 is nostalgia with a pop art and scratched tone, i love how the cover shows the villains instead of the main heroes. I like how the characters pose if they are in a classic anime opening.
I really like how the Zanini colours make the art stand out with heroes together villains by setting mood and mixes with cartoon humour.

The logo changes on the comic to match style of the story. It’s a cool detail.

I do like the texted boxed and speech balloons shows who’s speaking and narrating the story, nice retro feeling to it

The characters

First, we will start off with main villain turned heroine of story herself, Romana the daughter of (also known as Wonder Vixen) and Hyper Rob (also known as Guillermo). we got to see more of her and how Mega Fox radicalise her. (If you want know happen, you’ll have to buy copy issue 6 to find out and read issue to understand why)

Next we have her mother Sally (also known as Wonder Vixen), we see her suffering and grieving for loss of her partner wither best friend vibes. This has taken effect on dearly on our superheroine.

Next we have her “auntie” Vibes (also known as AK Girl) we see much her caring for her best friend and keeping the city safe until she gets a surprise help from someone.

After that we have next the supporting characters.

Insect Girl (also known as Jenny) we see her turning to good side (if you want know why you’ll need to read issue 6 to find out why)

We also have the multiple supporting characters like old and new. They still their vibrant outfits and thoughtful personalities.

Now we have the villain section,

First, we will start off with main villain of series Himself, Mega Fox. We see him with an upgraded look that shows his towering and menacing Presences to his foes while seeing him mad that he lost control of his priced weapon and seeing insect girl betray him.

Then next we have the three villains.

Mecha Caramel Vixen, we see her keeping her grudge of AK Girl while seeing her showing concern for The Bakery Boys who have become like her. she gotten upgraded look and weapons from her last fight.

Warp King, we see him watching everything behind the scene while noticing that unknown being and it has taken him out of picture. We see that he has updated suit and cane.

The Mecha Bakery Boys. we see them still loyal to her that we see them worrying about when she been hurt. They all have new upgrade looks and weapons like their lead while keeping their chef hats from their last battle.

Then we have the best for last the main villain of story herself, we have the void the dark and unnerving entity who has taken form of one our heroes. She from the deepest realms of void and she is not alone has brought some unwanted company.

The Conclusion

Reynard City Chronicles issue 7: aftermath is brilliant for tackling serious topics in its own way by adding realism in comics. I love how the comic reuses ideas from the original and combines them into something unique.

Hello Reynardfans, it’s me Brunel back again with another review but this time we will be reviewing a webcomic pilot. I want to review indie comics that deserve more readers.

So no without further of do, lets power jump into sci-fi and advanced world of Heavenly- Kyuubi.
Before I start the review, the comic art and characters belong to artist who is also writer of webcomic pilot.

Story

I will be reading a short description from webcomic pilot without spoiling important parts of story. you’ll have to read it for yourself Hehe! (https://heavenly-kyuubi.tumblr.com/post/744381245994172416/the-cover-for-heavenly-kyuubi-here-with-kiroo-the)

The story starts with the heavenly kyuubi, one of Japan’s biggest corporations known for their robots, especially after Kim Kashikoi, a tanuki scientist in robotics joined and created the super ai known as Inari. Said super ai used her newfound powers to dispose the president.

When I first read the webcomic pilot, I was intrigued by the comic and how it introduced characters. I was surprised of how Alexis written and did art same, it’s amazing how he can multitask.

I really like how the story mixed Japanese culture and sci-fi together while breaking cliche of stereotypes.

I love how the story balances the action and comical moments. it’s making the heroes and villains feel more realistic.

I like the how story tackles the old and new ways through characters with traditional manners.

Artwork

Let’s have a look at creator of comic and see their art style and technique.
Alexis Stripe is impressive with vibrant colours and shading has a retro gaming vibe. The background art has a bright colour to make the main character stand out.

I do like the font and logo title style of comic. It has a pixel game detail with a bold metallic tone. It’s a nice detail.

I like the reference and Easter eggs in art (I won’t spoil more of the comic and characters)
The characters
Let’s talk meet the heroes first and then second villain.
First, we will start off with the main hero of story crime fighting family himself, Kick Kangaroo (also known as kiroo) a kind hearted and thoughtful android. Who has variety of combat skills and techniques

Then next we have his family,

Kim kashioki (Kim for short), a kind and caring tanuki scientist working at Heavenly Kyuubi Zaibatsu alongside with her daughter. (I like name and symbolism with yokia)

Dark wolf (also known as Dawol), a gynoid with temper and attitude have a bit of an ego. She cares for her family in her own way. (Let’s hope her ego doesn’t get any bigger or she’ll be mistaken as a float with all that hot air)

Goddess/miss president (also known as Inari), a kind and well-mannered gynoid kitsune who has a bit of a control issue if someone insults her creator/mother. (Very clever with names and traditional headwear)

Puncher Hopper (also known as Battler) a jokester and Grass Hopper android who thinks he handle things Like problems himself. (let’s hope he doesn’t fall in love with another grasshopper or he’ll be fighting crime without head)

I like the polished coloured armour design and it represents each characters’ personalities.

I do like the characters bios and how it shows their abilities with skills. It would be nice to see more them but it doesn’t change my view on the webcomic at all.

Now we have the villain’s section.

Let’s start off with, Tudeo, a rash and full of himself lad who should listen to his elders, he is the son of the Muteki clan leader (he going to get worse punishment)

We also have tudeo’s cronies (they are just cronies) except from that i do like how diverse they are with humans and Anthro animals.

And then next we have his father.
Muteki Mifune, a wise and powerful yukuza boss and is the leader of a crime family/clan in Japan. (For an elderly boss, he rocking those red and tinted black shades with golden earrings in nice brown kimono)

Then we have the last villains.
We have the main villain of the story himself who looks like Skrillex but not successful, Jens Madsen (Fitting end name for guy) A scientist for justice but has short temper who can’t take criticism (he needs chill pill for his attitude) good friend turned due to him not accepting other’s opinions.

The Conclusion

Here’s are my conclusion and thoughts for the webcomic of what I think of the first pilot comic issue.
Heavenly- Kyuubi is brilliant. I love how the comic combines different cultures while basing the androids and gynoids on real life animals. thank you, Alexis Strype, for letting me review your webcomic pilot.

I did have one small opinion in the character section, but it doesn’t change my view overall of the comic.
