Norcon 2025

Norcon is an annual sci-fi, comic, cosplay, pop culture etc event at the Royal Norfolk Showground just outside Norwich (more info about it here)

However our endorsement is not just local bias- the event has been voted one of the top 10 friendliest conventions on the UK circuit. This year’s Norcon was a big one for us and we prepared to launch the final issue (more on that here)

The comic

So this year artist Martin Williams joined us at our table and we also had support from our neighbours (including the fabulous Figmata)

It was a big moment- we now had all 10 issues on sale. Would people want to get involved? Would people be interested?

The sales

The big answer was…YES!

Not only did we get sales it was our best Norcon in years. 35 sales representing one of our biggest totals. As a reminder whenever we sell comics we give a cut to the artists involved.

“But when are you doing that?” I hear the strawperson in my head ask.

“I already have” I answer.

It can’t be stressed enough- this project can’t happen without the amazing folks who turned scrawled notes into full issues. It’s something that comes up a lot so in answer to this most frequently asked question- no I don’t do the art myself. I am proud of the people involved and I am delighted to support them.

Meet and greet

We were so lucky to meet friends who have been regulars at the con but also get to meet new ones as well, sharing in their stories and helping them learn about what we do.

Original works have it tough at the moment. But the rise in the independent scene means we have more of a chance to achieve our dream of an animated series.

So what comes next?

In the immediate short term we will be ordering in print copies of issue 9 to send out to our backers plus a final update for the website. Jimferno is currently working on the animated trailer (after a couple of technical issues we’re hoping to have a preview up on the crowdfunds soon!)

We will also be working on illustrations for Iwfan53’s alternate universe short story series (link here)

We definitely want to go to next year’s Norcon, though it will be a matter of getting everything sorted out before then.
