Thanks to our incredible Reynard City animated shorts supporters we have hit our first goal- we have got the funding for the first of three animated shorts. But why is this important? In the following blog and video we will explain. Still want to know more? Use our contact form and we’ll be happy to answer your questions!
Reynard City Animated Shorts: Proof Of Concept

If there’s one thing we’ve learned during this process it’s that you need to show people you are capable of delivering. With a full comic series complete (again thanks to our amazing supporters) we have that in terms of being able to show potential partners the overall arc of the story.
But like comics animation is a visual medium. Thanks to our supporters we produced a trailer to promote our final issue.
One bit of feedback we got was “This doesn’t reflect the themes of the comic, looking at mental health and the struggles of the character”. This was something we wanted to showcase more as well as giving an introduction to people who aren’t familiar with the characters.

Short 1- Who Is AK Girl?
Vibes McAllister thinks she’s a normal radio DJ. But some strange dreams are making her question the world around her. Her therapist Dr Anty is one of few people sympathetic to her struggles. Little does she know he knows more than he’s letting on and she is about to discover the truth behind the mysterious “AK Girl?”
The first of the Reynard City animated shorts has the benefit of Vibes as both a main character and an audience surrogate- she is learning more about the world of Reynard City as we are.
One thing we are hoping to secure with this one is someone we haven’t had yet- someone who can nail the voice of Dr Antibiotix (watch this space for further announcements!)

Short 2- Escape From New Jamestown
Sal (Wondervixen) recounts her time in New Jamestown and why she didn’t rejoin with her fellow foxy heroes. Dr Anty hears her story…but is she telling the whole truth?
While the first of the Reynard City shorts establishes the world of Reynard City the second one is designed to showcase an extra layer of complication to the story. Is Sal completely a hero? What is she hiding? What we hope is that people watching are asking the same questions (and want to know more!)

Short 3- Hyper Rob’s Last Stand
Guillermo (Hyper Rob) carries the guilt of the Rodriguez name- not only was his father Dante a gangster and responsible for terrible pain and suffering on the planet of Animal Kingdom but he was also the one who ordered the creation of Mega Fox, who would reject his creator’s order and decide to establish his own!
As the first two Reynard City animated shorts set up the world and potential complications this story offers further fleshing out of Guilermo’s backstory while at the same time giving a nod towards the eventual story finale.
If you’re wondering why the goal on this one is higher than the other two this is to cover additional costs on top of the animation (voice acting, marketing etc).
