Reynard City Gift Guide 2024- It’s that time again!

We say Gift Guide 2024 as opposed to Christmas because the people we feature don’t just offer items for Christmas, these are businesses you can get all year round. This is also why some of the tips are a bit broad in terms of gift giving but hopefully will help when it comes to those people in your life that are a bit trickier to buy for!

Gift Guide 2024- Secret Santa tips

1. Set a budget and make sure people stick to it!
2. If you’re the organiser, try to pair up people who wouldn’t normally give gifts to each other.
3. Try to buy something that lines up with what you know they are interested in, it will feel a bit more personal
4. If you don’t know the person, try not to be too stereotypical when it comes to gifts (ie car stuff for guys, bath bombs for women etc). Mix it up a bit!

Gift Guide 2024 – Tricky gifts

There is usually at least one person that’s hard to buy gifts for. It may feel like they have what they need, you’re buying for a parent or children are starting to age out of toys etc.

Here’s a few tips

1. Get a gift bag from a shop and add different sweets, hot chocolate etc to it (mini booze can be added for adults)
2. Vouchers can be handy but make sure it is something they will want and use
3. Don’t be afraid of asking other friends/relatives for some info
4. In some cases it may be better to get a joint present and agree an amount to spend together.
5. If like me you are rubbish with gift wrap gift bags/gift wrapping services are your friend!

Gift Guide 2024- The thought that counts

“It’s the thought that counts” is not another way of saying “I remembered to buy something.”

It is about considering what a person wants and doing your best to find something they want. It’s also important to say spending a lot of money isn’t necessarily the best move either- a statue of Elvis Presley would be a terrible present for someone who doesn’t like Elvis regardless of how much it cost!

Why is buying indie important when it comes to gifts? There’s a few reasons- for example when buying our comics from Canary Comics you are benefiting us, our artists and an independent business. On top of that, as we get more money we can use the services of local businesses like Visualise and Minuteman Press Norwich who in turn make us better!
